There are many scenarios where someone, especially our kids, could use a good hug. Did they fall and scrape one of their knees? Are they having a hard time with school, friends, or just having a bad day?

As parents, sometimes, we just know that our little ones need some comfort and lifting up. There is actually more that than you might think. Hugging matters on a scientific level.

Research shows that affectionate touch like hugging can increase levels of oxytocin in both the parent and child, those are the hormones linked with bonding and emotional connection. You can check that article out here!

Studies have found that when parents hug their infants, both bodies respond, creating a sense of safety and belonging that strengthens the relationship. In fact, one study found that by about four months old, babies show a calming heart-rate response specifically when hugged by a parent. Check that out here!

So hugging helps you and your baby! So the next time your little one seems stressed some times all it takes is a little hug!

Until next time,
